Biography
Michael has extensive knowledge in environmental engineering and coastal oceanography. He received a PhD and MS in civil and environmental engineering from Stanford University where his research focused on characterizing stratified turbulence within shoaling internal waves in Hawaii. He earned his undergraduate degree at Johns Hopkins University where he studied and conducted research in the Experimental Fluid Mechanics Lab in the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering. While at Johns Hopkins, Michael spent a summer as a student fellow at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute in Massachusetts. Michael is an avid diver, and has logged 100+ research dives.
