Safety data sheets (SDSs, formerly known as material safety data sheets or MSDSs) are provided by chemical manufacturers and vendors for each hazardous chemical to communicate information on specific chemical health and safety hazards.

For convenience, Stanford personnel also have access to MSDSonline, a comprehensive library of electronic SDSs.

For best search results, enter multiple types of data at once. For example, if you are searching for Acetone manufactured by Sigma, you can type in "Acetone Sigma" in the search field. Other specific information that can be included are CAS# and product code.
