For the second year in a row, millennials were the largest group of home buyers, beating out Generation X (35 to 49 year olds), baby boomers (50 to 59 year olds), and older boomers, (60 to 68 year olds), a recent study by the National Association of Realtors shows. The study found that millennials composed 32 percent of all buyers in 2014, compared to 27 percent of Generation X buyers and a combined 31 percent of boomers. It’s a important shift, as first-time home buyers are a vital component of the overall economy. They’re reliable buyers home essentials such as furniture and gardening supplies that existing home buyers already own.
