I am mainly interested in attitudes toward slavery in the antebellum American North.  My concentration within this field has tended toward the intersections of reform culture and antislavery politics.  Thus far, my research has focused substantially on the American Colonization Society, a controversial and complex element of the northern antislavery movement.
