Persons With Disabilities
Parking access with a state-issued placard
We honor any state's disabled person placards in the following parking spaces on campus:
- designated blue spaces
- service vehicle spaces (a posted time limit may apply)
- commuter ("A" or "C") and residential permit spaces
- metered/visitor pay parking spaces, with the exception of:
- Li Ka Shing Center / Beckman lot (L-15): "Pay-by-space-number" is enforced at specific parking spaces.
Parking for persons with a temporary disability
If you have a temporary disability, you may apply for a temporary “Service Vehicle” courtesy permit from Parking & Transportation Services - NOT VALID IN DISABLED PARKING SPACES! Please provide us with a completed Medical Certification for Temporary Disabilities. Cart or Temporary Service Vehicle Permit form (PDF, 124 KB) signed by a licensed medical provider.
We can issue only one temporary “Service Vehicle” courtesy permit for up to 1 week. If a permit of longer duration is necessary, you'll need to apply to the DMV for a state placard.
DisGo Cart Service
The Office of Accessible Education (OAE) operates a free Disability Golf Cart (DisGo) transportation service, available to all members of the Stanford community with limited mobility, including those in wheelchairs. The on-campus service operates on weekdays (excluding university-observed holidays and breaks) starting the second week of every quarter. Request a ride in advance by using the online request form on the DisGo web page. If you have questions about this service, please call the OAE at 650.723.1066.
