Instructional Design Assistant

The Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning (VPTL) promotes and advances the vibrant, intellectual endeavor of teaching and learning at Stanford. VPTL’s Digital Learning Design team is looking for an Instructional design assistant to help design, develop, and support digital learning. This intern will have the opportunity to work closely with our instructional designers in developing MOOCs, flipped courses, and websites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with instructional designers and, when necessary, assist in project management and quality assurance of digital content and courses.

  • Write and copy edit web content on VPTL course design processes, procedures, case studies, and instructional practices.

  • Engage in outreach to Stanford community and beyond via VPTL blogs, web pages, and social media.

  • Assist in researching and vetting new digital tools, software, and environments and make recommendations with regard to pedagogical affordances.

Requirements

  • Attention to detail

  • Independent worker able to quickly adapt priorities and meet deadlines in fast-paced environment

  • Basic website design skills and experience using WordPress and/or Drupal

  • Facility with or ability to learn basic technology tools, such as XML coding, Google docs and sheets, PowerPoint, etc.

  • Awareness of evolving trends in digital, blended, and online learning

Desirable Background & Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal English skills

  • Experience designing and assisting in blended or online courses

  • Basic coding skills in PHP, Javascript, etc.

Hours: 
Flexible 8-20 hours/week Monday-Friday. No evening or weekend hours.
