Based at Stanford University in Northern California, the John S. Knight Journalism Fellowships supports diverse journalists from around the world who are creating solutions to journalism’s most urgent problems.
We focus on helping these journalism leaders succeed as effective change agents, improving the access to information people need to create and sustain democratic communities.

Become a fellow
The novel coronavirus pandemic has exposed systemic failings in many of society’s institutions, including journalism. To help address this, we created the John S. Knight Community Impact Fellowship — a remote model that allows our fellows to remain in their communities and conduct experiments to help close information gaps for people of color.

Benefits of a fellowship
We provide fellows with a monthly stipend, virtual access to the resources of a world-class university, and connection with a global network of innovative JSK alumni.
JSK Community Impact Fellows are eligible to apply for a residential JSK Fellowship in future years.
Applying for a fellowship
