Product Design

What You'll Study

The Product Design program teaches a design process that encourages creativity, craftsmanship, and personal expression, aesthetics, and emphasizes brainstorming and need finding. The course work provides students with the skills necessary to carry projects from initial concept to completion of working prototypes. Students studying product design follow the basic mechanical engineering curriculum with some additional course work in studio art and psychology. For a detailed list of requirements, go to the Undergraduate Majors Page in the School of Engineering section of the Stanford Bulletin.
