Stanford Celebrates You Yearbook Enhancement

Meaningful careers are built on peer relationships, support, and contributions big and small.

Beginning fall quarter 2019, yearbooks provided at local recognition ceremonies for staff who reached a significant milestone service anniversary will now have the opportunity to include congratulatory messages from the honoree’s manager and peers.

Stanford Celebrates You: Recognizing Staff Careers, which launched in July 2018, introduced a new way to recognize staff with milestone service anniversaries. As one of the personalized components, the yearbook publication is awarded to honorees completing five or more years of service (in five-year increments). Based on feedback from 2018 yearbook recipients, managers and peers of the honoree are now able to write congratulatory messages and upload photos to be printed in the publication.

How the process works

Approximately nine weeks prior to each school and unit’s local staff service recognition ceremony, managers should receive communication from their local HR Manager with the steps to take to ensure their honorees receive comments from their peers in their yearbook, along with tips and tools. Managers will receive an official invitation (with a ‘from’ email address of: appreciate@octanner.com) to leave a congratulatory message and invite others to write a message seven weeks prior to the local ceremony. The portal that allows comments to be printed in the yearbook publication will only be open three weeks from this date. Any comments or photos uploaded after this date will only be viewable to the honoree in a digital version of the yearbook.

Manager actions

  1. Review Manager Toolkit content to understand your role and action steps
  2. Identify colleagues of your honoree, whom you’ll invite to share comments
  3. Invite those colleagues to write a congratulatory comment and upload photos as soon as you receive your initial invitation
  4. Leave your honoree your own congratulatory comments

Contact your local HR Manager for more information on your school or unit’s participation.
