STANFORD, Calif. - Top-ranked Stanford University (5-0) defeated Pacific (9-3) 123-74 in men's swimming action Tuesday afternoon at deGuerre Pool. The Cardinal has now won 14 straight dual meets dating back to the 1996-97 season.
A Stanford swimmer touched the wall first in every event, and the Cardinal recorded a total of eight NCAA Championship provisional qualifying times. Senior Tate Blahnik (Temple, TX/Suffern HS) and sophomore Steven Brown (Reno, NV/Reno HS) led the way with two provisional qualifying times apiece. Blahnik recorded NCAA times en route to first-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (1:39.26) and 200-backstroke (1:44.88), while Brown recorded his provisional times in winning the 400-yard Individual Medley (3:51.38) and 200-yard butterfly (1:48.81).
Stanford returns to action this weekend when it visits No. 5 Arizona on Friday at 2 p.m. and No. 10 Arizona State on Saturday at 1 p.m. Pacific next faces Cal Poly San Luis Obispo on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Fresno.
