Kathryn Imrie rejoined the Stanford women’s golf team as a volunteer assistant coach in the winter of 2017.
A Class A LPGA certified instructor, she grew up in Dundee, Scotland and learned to play on links courses like Carnoustie and St. Andrews. Imrie was a talented junior player and reached the top of the amateur game when she competed for Great Britain and Ireland in the 1991 Curtis Cup Match at Canoe Brook Country Club in New Jersey. At one time, she held five course records in St. Andrews.
Imrie graduated from the University of Arizona in 1989, earning All-America honors that year. She returned to Scotland in 1991, where she turned professional. In 1993, Imrie secured her LPGA tour card and became the first Scot to win on the circuit, capturing the 1995 Jamie Farr Toledo Classic.
In 1994 and 1996, Imrie represented Europe in the Solheim Cup matches, where she partnered with Annika Sorenstam and Liselotte Neuman.
Imrie competed on the LPGA Tour and Ladies European Tour for 18 years. She set LPGA record by carding 11 birdies during a round at Rail Golf Club in Illinois, shooting 62 to equal the LPGA scoring mark.
Since retiring from competitive golf, Imrie achieved Master Instructor status at the Jim McLean Golf School in La Quinta, California. She was an assistant golf coach at Stanford for three years, then became an assistant pro at the course. Imrie currently teaches at Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club in Menlo Park, California.
