Leadership Awards

The Office of Student Engagement has two sets of awards every Spring: Campus Impact Awards and Students' Choice Awards. Read below for more information on each.

Campus Impact Awards

OSE's most prestigious awards recognize and honor student organizations and advisors of student organizations for outstanding service contributions to the Stanford community. Winners are selected by a committee comprised of students and staff. Winners receive a cool award and will be featured on our website, social media and on the wall of fame in the Old Union building!

The Nanci Howe Award for Leaving a LegacyInitiatives that have a strong and sustained impact on or off-campus. Named after Nanci Howe the former director of this office. 

Capturing the Spirit: Initiatives that embody the spirit and soul of the Stanford student community.

Inspiring InnovationBreakthrough initiatives that transform the University community.

Building BridgesCollaborative efforts that seek to create understanding and dialogue. 

Advisor of the YearAn advisor who goes above and beyond to support a student organization.

RSO Leader of the Year (New Award!)An exemplary student leader who has made a significant impact and inspired the growth and development of others.

Criteria for Student Organization/RSO Leader Nominations

  • Organizations nominated must be currently registered student organizations
  • RSO leaders nominated must be currently registered students at Stanford
  • Efforts recognized should be recent but can include past accomplishments
  • Nominations are sought broadly from all members of the Stanford community and student organization advisors
  • Orgs may self-nominate but preference is given to those that include a recommendation from staff, faculty or an advisor
  • All nominations should be made by an individual
  • Award receipients of 4 years or less are not eligible

Criteria for Advisor Nominations

  • Advisor role must be in a voluntary capacity
  • Advisor must be a faculty, staff, or alumni member at Stanford

Student Choice Awards

OSE's fun way of recognizing and celebrating successful programs and achievements by student organizations in 10 different categories. Students will have the ability to nominate and vote for: Best Conference, Best New Student Org, Best Arts Performance, Students' Choice and more! Two new award categories will be released for voting each Sunday from April 26, 2020 – May 24, 2020. Winners will be announced on Instagram the following Wednesday and each org gets to takeover the OSE Instagram for 24 hours.

Criteria for Student Organization Nominations

  • Voting is open to current Stanford students only
  • Students may nominate/vote for other student orgs or their own
  • All nominees must be currently registered student organizations
  • Event nominations must be for events that occurred in the 2019-2020 academic year
  • One award per org. Award recepients of 4 years or less are not eligible
