At a meeting on June 4, 2020, Caltrain’s Board of Directors authorized an extension of Go Pass agreements to compensate for the service reductions and loss of use during the mandatory COVID-19 Shelter-in-Place order.

This means that graduate students and postdoctoral scholars who currently participate in the Pilot Go Pass programs, or are eligible to join, will continue to enjoy free, unlimited travel on Caltrain through March 31, 2021, if they remain active at Stanford.

The Pilot Go Pass programs were implemented as a temporary strategy to mitigate the commuting costs for graduate students living off-campus and to address housing availability and affordability issues for postdoctoral scholars.

The original pilots were each extended for one year and scheduled to expire on Dec. 31, 2020. The Caltrain extension enables both programs to continue through March 31, 2021.
