Application Process

For eligible faculty and staff, submit your application between April 1 and July 1 to ensure that you receive the TGP authorization letter in advance of the start of your child's classes. Applications received after July 1 could delay the receipt of your authorization letter and may impact your child's ability to register for classes on time.

Application Instructions

For benefits-eligible faculty and staff, including SLAC, follow the online applications steps below.

For SLAC Employees: If this is your first time submitting a TGP application, or if your last application submitted was prior to the 2015/2016 academic year, you must contact Claudia Ransom at claudia@slac.stanford.edu for first time access to the TGP portal. Once access is granted, you may log in as often as needed with no further approvals required.

For retirees, emeriti and/or beneficiaries of deceased employees, please view the Application Process for Retirees, Emeriti and Beneficiaries of Deceased Employees.

Submit Required Dependent Documentation

New Applicants

  • You will be required to provide dependent relationship documentation with your application for TGP benefits.
  • Please review the TGP Dependent Eligibility Documentation for information about acceptable documents. Copies of official documents are acceptable. Please do not send original documents.
  • Important: Have all necessary dependent documentation ready at the time of application. All documents must be in PDF. The system will not allow you to “save” and return to an application at a later time so you must have all documentation ready when you apply. You can look at the application first, and then complete it when you have all necessary information and documentation.

Returning Applicants

  • If you previously submitted dependent documentation to the TGP, you are not required to resubmit documentation every year.

Submit the Completed Application

You will receive an email acknowledging receipt of your application. At this time your application is in “Review.”

Send the Authorization Letter

Once you receive an “Approval” email from the TGP, return to the TGP Portal to print the Parent Memo and the Authorization Letter. It is your responsibility to send the letter to your child's school. This is very important. The letter will verify that payment from Stanford is guaranteed and provides billing instructions for the school.

Note: The Authorization Letter does not apply if your child is attending Stanford University or if your benefit is taxable.
