PG&E is reporting a widespread outage affecting thousands of customers in Berkeley and many City buildings, including the Finance Customer Service Center and the Permit Service Center. Call respective City services for further details, or check the PG&E outage page. Power is expected to return by 12:45pm. Traffic lights that are not working should be treated as a four-way stop sign.

COVID-19 vaccines are now widely available to everyone 16 and up. The vaccine is free to everyone.

Berkeley Public Health vaccination sites

  • Drop-ins welcome at Buchanan St. mass vaccination site: Berkeley Public Health's mass vaccination site near the North Berkeley border is open to everyone 16 and up, no matter where you live or work.

    The site is open 9am-5pm Tuesday-Saturday and is located at 1 Buchanan St. in Albany. Come get your shot:

    • Pfizer (16+): May 13, 14, 15
    • Moderna (18+): May 8, 11, 12

    If you'd like to reserve a spot, use myturn.ca.gov to make an appointment. (Scroll down the "select location" page until you see "Buchanan St Parking Lot (next to Albany Bulb).

  • May 14: Drop-in clinic in West Berkeley: 2500 Eighth St., Lot E parking lot on the Bayer campus.

    Open to everyone 18 and up. Drive-thru, bike-thru, and walk-thru vaccinations available. Make an appointment to reserve your spot, or drop-in anytime during operating hours.

    • Friday, May 14: 9:30am-12pm, 12:45pm-2pm

    This site is about a 5 minute walk from AC Transit line 72. Get off at Dwight and San Pablo, head west on Dwight.

More ways to get vaccinated

  • MyTurn: Use myturn.ca.gov to schedule appointments at many sites across the state and region, including the Oakland Coliseum. MyTurn is available in 14 languages.

  • CA COVID-19 hotline: Call 1-833-422-4255 to schedule appointments by phone. Translators are available to support 250 languages.

  • Local pharmacies: Getting vaccinated at a neighborhood pharmacy may be the most convenient, accessible option for many, especially those who rely on walking, biking, and public transportation. For booking information, see: CVS, Safeway, Walgreens.

  • Private health care providers: Large health care systems may be able to schedule appointments farther in advance than other sources, so this is a good option for people who need to plan ahead to arrange transportation or time off work. See information from: Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health, Stanford Health Care.

The COVID-19 vaccine is free for everyone. You do not need insurance to get vaccinated.

Who can get a vaccine

Everyone 16 and older is now eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine in California, per California Department of Public Health guidelines.

  • 16 & 17 year olds: People under 18 can only get the Pfizer vaccine.
  • 18 and up: People 18 and older can get any of the three available vaccines: Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson
