MarYam Hamedani, Ph.D.

MarYam Hamedani, Ph.D., studies and puts into practice strategies to help people live, work, and thrive in today’s increasingly diverse and divided world. She works on promoting racial literacy, increasing inclusion in schools and workplaces, and improving police-community relations. She is Managing Director and Senior Research Scientist at Stanford SPARQ and the RaceWorks Project Director.

Daniel Murray, Ph.D.

Daniel Murray, Ph.D., develops opportunities to bring together social justice work, political engagement, academic research, and pedagogy. His areas of expertise include community engagement, social movements, and democratic theory. He is Executive Director at the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity at Stanford University.

Jennifer DeVere Brody, Ph.D.

Jennifer DeVere Brody, Ph.D., studies performance, aesthetics, politics, and subjectivity as well as gender, sexuality, and contemporary culture. She is Professor of Theater and Performance Studies and Director of the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity at Stanford University.

Paula M. L. Moya, Ph.D.

Paula M. L. Moya, Ph.D., studies the dynamics of subordination in race, gender, sexuality, literature, and narrative. She is Danily C. and Laura Louise Bell Professor of the Humanities, Professor of English, and the former Director of the Research Institute of Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity at Stanford University.

Hazel Rose Markus, Ph.D.

Hazel Rose Markus, Ph.D., studies how race, ethnicity, social class, gender, religion, region, and nation shape—and are shaped by—people’s thoughts, feelings, motivations, and actions. She is Davis-Brack Professor in the Behavioral Sciences, Professor of Psychology, and Faculty Co-Director of SPARQ at Stanford University.

Filmmaker Pratibha Parmar, of Kali Films, has an exemplary track record for her passionate commitment to making films with integrity and illuminating untold stories with visual flair and imagination. Her award-winning work has been widely exhibited at international film festivals and broadcast globally. Parmar’s dedication in bringing complex subjects into mainstream media has helped change the contours of popular discourse on race, feminism, sexuality and creativity.

Stanford Video's award-winning staff combines talent and know-how with a thorough knowledge of Stanford systems and technologies to produce educational videos, live webcasts, and, among other services, facilitate project development.
