Applying for Aid

Summer Session

Financial aid options for undergraduate summer enrollment at Stanford are limited and depend on whether you are a regular Stanford student, a student from another college or university, or a high school student.

Stanford undergraduates

If you are enrolling in Summer 2021 as one of your three quarters of enrollment during the current academic year, you can expect to be supported in a similar fashion to your other two quarters, depending on your living situation. We ask you to submit this summer application to let us know about your plans. Need-based Stanford scholarship funds for a 4th quarter of enrollment are available only to students who will graduate at the end of summer. Exceptions can be made for students facing housing insecurity if they intend to enroll in classes. Note that if you receive need-based Stanford scholarship funds, the summer quarter does count as one of the twelve quarters you are eligible for funding.

If you are enrolling in Summer 2021 as your Flex Term, financial aid is not available. Additional resources may be available to you through the Flex Term Grant offered through the FLI Office.

Students from other colleges and universities

The Stanford Financial Aid Office does not award financial aid to students who are not enrolled in degree programs at Stanford. If you are a student from another school who will enroll at Stanford for the summer, you should contact the financial aid office at your home school for information about summer aid.

High school students

The Summer Session Office administers a scholarship program for certain high school students. The Stanford Financial Aid Office is not involved in this process. High school students should contact the Summer Session Office for scholarship application information.
