Tuesday marked the final meeting of the three-part book club centering on Chanel Miller’s memoir “Know My Name.” The book club, started by Lauryn Johnson ’22, welcomed womxn from across campus to engage in discussions, activities and an art project in order to learn more about sexual assault on college campuses and demonstrate support for Miller and other survivors.

The 2019 Sustainability Tracking, Assessment and Rating System (STARS) report ranked Stanford at number 2 internationally, exemplifying the continued commitment to sustainability on campus.

Stanford Roots hosted their annual Harvest Festival on Friday, welcoming students to the O’Donohue Family Stanford Educational Farm in order to celebrate the land and promote sustainable agriculture on campus. Stanford Roots, formerly the Stanford Farmers, is a student-led organization that promotes community involvement through experiential learning and collaboration with the Farm.

The Stanford Democrats and Stanford College Republicans squared off over U.S. gun policy on Wednesday night at Stanford in Government’s first campus debate of the year. The event, which was cosponsored by Stanford Debate Society, saw two of Stanford’s foremost political parties discuss gun legislation, with SCR supporting gun rights and the Democrats calling for greater gun control.

Thursday’s talk isn’t Power’s first at Stanford, though this time she was here to her recent memoir, “The Education of an Idealist.” The conversation, moderated by Maha Ibrahim ’92, focused on Power’s experiences as a war correspondent in Bosnia, her role on the National Security Council and her advice for aspiring activists.

Alleged fraudster Igor Dvorskiy to plead guilty to racketeering conspiracy as part of Operation Varsity Blues, according to a plea agreement filed Tuesday in federal court.

“We have a responsibility to model respectful on-campus engagement,” Senator Micheal Brown ’22 stated at the meeting of the 21st ASSU on Tuesday night. The Senate discussed plans to improve accessibility and facilitate productive political dialogue on campus.

Announced in an email to participating students on Tuesday, Aug. 20, the decision was made after weeks of monitoring and consideration of the political situation and ongoing protests. It is unclear if BOSP will launch the program in fall 2020.

The Stanford College Republicans (SCR) and Stanford Debate Society (SDS) squared off in a heated debate over a potential nationwide ban of abortion at all stages of pregnancy.

Stanford students who appear to be of Asian descent have been targeted by an individual in a slew of racially charged remarks around White Plaza. Such incidents, which students have reported have been ongoing since Autumn 2018, have included at least one middle-aged man yelling racial epithets, both on foot and on bike, and using slurs aimed at Asian and Asian-American students.
