APRIL 1 UPDATE: Stanford-issued Caltrain Go Passes will be extended through Dec. 31, 2021.

To compensate transit pass holders for the service reductions and loss of use during the mandatory COVID-19 shelter-in-place order, Caltrain and VTA have extended the expiration dates for their 2020 transit passes beyond the original expiration of Dec. 31, 2020.

  • If you have a 2020 Caltrain Go Pass, it is now valid through March 31, 2021
  • If you have a 2020 VTA SmartPass, it is now valid through May 31, 2021

No action is required on the part of current Go Pass and SmartPass holders. The extension will be applied to your pass(es) automatically. We plan to communicate more about the status of Go Passes and SmartPasses in early 2021, prior to the expiration of passes.

Stanford-issued AC Transit EasyPasses extended through 2021

Stanford-issued AC Transit EasyPasses will be extended through 2021. This means that university, SLAC, and hospital employees who currently have an EasyPass, or are eligible for one, will continue to enjoy free, unlimited travel on AC Transit in 2021 as long as they remain active at Stanford and continue to meet the eligibility requirements.

No action is required if you currently have a Stanford-issued AC Transit EasyPass on your Clipper card. The extension for 2021 will be applied to your EasyPass automatically. The AC Transit EasyPass includes transbay service on Dumbarton Express.
