saw boehner's complete remarks. he spent more time justifying anger than he did decrying violence. typical. teapublican.
Democrats were angry at Bush, and that mobilized them to support Obama and take control of Congress. Conservatives see this administration destroying the country, and you can bet we will be mobilized in the coming elections.
Oh, no, Mr. Bozell, we think its both and the same.
Which party raised more $$ after the HCR bill passed, the one who ran a 'Fire Pelosi' fund-raising campaign or the one who ran no fund-raising campaign until now?
Uh, that would be the Democrats. A far from perfect party, I'll grant you that...but really now, consider the alternative. Bachmann? Boehner? Bunning? I'm only on the Bs here, people, and it ain't pretty.
These are tough times, my friends. Nonetheless, if you still have a few coins to rub together, I encourage you to contact these folks to share some love:

There are other people who love to fight. That's what we saw on the Mall last week. People without the common sense to recognize the seriousness of their behavior. One I heard was definitely against education and ready to "take on"
those who want to help people. This small number will not help the Republicans in the fall. They are the violent ones who don't care much about the topic, they just want to fight and insult. They have already hurt the Republicans. Some of the Republicans think that this group is their "American people" and are rushed out on the Capital balcony to show their support.
I posted this on a previous thread, but want to get my thoughts on this one as well. I noticed here that Brent Bozell's comments seem to reflect that same Republican misunderstanding of the American people . His last sentence is
of importance in reading the Republican thoughts. He thinks that the Democratic Party is trying to " ruin the Republican image — as if that isn’t at the top of the liberal media’s To-Do list every day" Incredible! Republican's are reuining their reputation all by themselves. Democrats are trying to get something done for this country. it is the Republicans who have actually said (Sen. Mc Connell+ others) that their goal is to prevent any part of President Obama's program to come into law.
In the fall the American people will speak.
2. The way this has all gone down I am beginning to wonder if, should violence occur, various politicians and pundits could be criminally prosecuted for incitement of violence. It might be a stretch with politicians. But if pundits implicitly are encouraging radical elements to do everything possible to act against various politicians and continually demonize opponents there might be a case there.
3. I don't get Bozell's comment: the issue is death threats, destruction of property, and ugly rallies filled with hateful speech. He calls this conservative idealism? Either he wants to change the subject entirely or he has a frightening vision of what "Conservative Idealism" is or ought to be.
To paraphrase Joe Mc Carthy, "Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Repubican Party?" Shamefully, I have to state yes, at least up until 2000. We face danger and threats to our way of life and 234 years of our Democracy. These danger and threats come from within.
All that remains to be done by these self-appointed "patriots" is to bug all our phones, start Orwell's "Thought Police" and build camps for those of us who not only disagree with these tactics, but fight them. All they need to post at the entrance is the 21st Century ultra right wing equivalent to "Arbeit Macht Frei".
My apologies to our Jewish brothers and sisters for this reference, but this is how it all started in Nazi Germany in the 1920's. Ignore history? Then we'll repeat it, God forbid!
Ten men go out for beer. The bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing. The fifth would pay $1. The sixth would pay $3. The seventh would pay $7. The eighth would pay $12. The ninth would pay $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.
So, that's what they decided to do. The ten men drank in the bar every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. He said, "Since you are all such good customers, I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily beer by $20. Drinks for the ten now cost just $80."
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes, so the first four men were unaffected. They would still drink for free. But what about the other six men -- the paying customers?
How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everyone would get his "fair share"? They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to drink his beer. So the bar owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay!
And so:
The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100% savings). The sixth now paid $2 instead of $3 (33%savings). The seventh now pay $5 instead of $7 (28%savings). The eighth now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings). The ninth now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings). The tenth now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four
continued to drink for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.
"I only got a dollar out of the $20," declared the sixth man. He
pointed to the tenth man, "but he got $10!"
"Yeah, that's right,' exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than I!"
"That's true!!"shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $10 back when I got only $2 ? The wealthy get all the breaks!"
"Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!" The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.
The next night the tenth man didn't show up for drinks, so the nine sat down and had beers without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important.
They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!
And that is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up any more. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.
The left has failed in its mission to get Americans behind this rotten bill. Having lost the debate, it has moved on to labeling all dissenters as violent racists. That is tolerance? Please.
These Tea-Party people are angry? Has it occurred to any of these people that many independents and liberals are a little angry too? I'm an independent and I respect basic conservative values, but I'm a little angry that for 8 years, the most powerful position in the world was given by these people to an incompetent who took the country, through a nonstop series of unforeseen and poorly addressed catastrophes, from Clinton's relative peace, prosperity and federal surplus to this multi-dimensional nightmare we are in today, and that Obama and the Democrats have so far done a fair job of saving us from while they've been attacked venomously. President Obama is OUR president, ALL of us, and he means well, however much some of us may disagree with him. I think we should remember that, try to help him, and be CONSTRUCTIVELY critical.
As for the Republicans, they think the moral thing to do is to enthusiastically pour trillions of taxpayer dollars into unnecessarily killing people (Iraq), but be "fiscally responsible" and resolutely refuse to spend a dime to save the lives and financial survival of millions of Americans. Their "Christianity" seems to me to no longer have anything to do with the charitable teachings of the Prince of Peace.
You must be in one of the lucky families who have never had a financial problem. Most families have had someone without a job for awhile. I guess you are against medicare and social security too. If you are against them, which falls in with your attitudes, after you collect the amount of money you have contributed to Social Security, then you should refuse it from that point onward. You certainly don't want other people's money! Did you send your children to public schools..........
And also: apology NOT accepted from any GOP Congressperson. The only thing I will accept is the removal of these treasonists -- either at the ballot box or by expulsion.
