04:05:06 07/08/09

Somebody sent me this message via e-mail.

At five minutes and six seconds past four am on the 8th of July this year, the time and date will be 04:05:06 07/08/09. This will never happen again.

How fatalistic. In Europe, the above mentioned day is in fact not in July, but in August, since most Europeans would write the day first, then the month and then the year. In Sweden, the year is written first, then the month and last the day, so there, it would have to be seven minutes and eight seconds past six am on the 11th of October this year in order to be equally cool: 06:07:08 09-10-11. If you think about it, I'm sure you could come up with a couple of these as well.

Hi--I came across your blog quite by accident but I'm so glad I found it! We are an American family currently living in Amman. It is looking like we will be moving to Cairo this summer so I have been looking for places to live and schools for my children. Of course CAC was recommended. My husband's work will pay part of the tuition but the fees at CAC are far more than what his work will cover. (We will have 6 school-age children by next fall.) We have been disappointed in the schools here in Amman and before that, in Kuwait. I was seriously considering homeschooling when we move to Egypt and was hoping to find out more about it. I read through some of your posts about your homeschooling experiences and noticed you mention getting together with other homeschool families. I would love to be in contact with some of these families to get their take on how I might best go about doing this. It sounds like you're very busy with a new baby but I'd love to get some questions answered either by you or by someone you know. My children's ages are 13, 12, 10, 9, 6, and 5 so if you know anybody who homeschools their children and their children are similar ages feel free to pass along my information to them. My email is bubstac8@yahoo.com. I also noticed a link you posted to a google group so I will look into that as well. Thanks for your blog--it is so helpful to people like myself who will be new to Egypt.
