WordCamp Columbus Unconference

by Blantonious on May 14, 2009

One of the goals of WordCamp Columbus is for all attendees to learn as much as possible and learn what they want to learn with reagards to WordPress and blogging. In addition to more than a dozen great speakers speaking on a variety of specific topics we will also be having an Unconference throughout the day.

Know a little about blogging? Know a lot? Know nothing? All are welcome to the WordCamp Columbus Unconference. We’ll decide on breakout sessions by compiling a list of what participants want to learn, want to share. We’ll learn from each other. In true unconference fashion we encourage participants to find a break out that meets your needs which means its ok to leave a breakout session and join another!

Angela Siefer from Shiny Door will be moderating the Unconference starting at the first Networking session. If you have ideas or questions hit her up on Twitter @angelasiefer

In addition to scheduled speakers at WordCamp Columbus, we are planning an “unconference” portion to the event. This portion will be user generated where WordCamp Columbus participants suggest AND present and/or lead sessions of the topic chosen by the other participants.

The unconference portion will be facilitated by Angela Siefer of Shiny Door. Angela is a private consultant, providing social networking workshops and guidance to non-techies of nonprofit and small/medium businesses. And she’s a kick ass person and facilitator. We love her, even though she does use a platform other than WordPress.

Have a topic you’re itching to talk about, but for some reason or other, we the organizers didn’t think to include that topic in the scheduled portion? Well suggest it now on our UserVoice page. Or just suggest it the day of.

Like blogging, we’re trying to make WordCamp Columbus as user interactive as possible. Come join in the fun.

To suggest an unconference topic or to vote for a topic, please visit our UserVoice page.

Emerging Leadership Circle is new Gold Sponsor

by wyliemac on March 17, 2009

We are happy to announce that Emerging Leadership Circle has signed on as a Gold Sponsor to Wordcamp Columbus. Emerging Leadership Circle is a professional development destination for emerging corporate and non-profit leaders. Members experience career enhancing, video-based leadership education and community. ELCircle.com is powered by Wordpress. Access a trial membership today.

Emerging Leadership Circle is headed by Jim Canterucci, the founder of Transition Management Advisors and the author of the book Personal Brilliance: Mastering the Everyday Habits That Create a Lifetime of Success and creator of the My Personal Brilliance blog and podcasts. Jim, through Transition Management Advisors, often works directly with CEO’s and their direct reports in training and professional development in a program called Executive Leadership Circle. Jim is often asked to bring the training to the next levels down. Unfortunately, as logistical and cost realities set in, brining such training to the next level down leaders tend to put such plans to rest. Emerging Leadership Circle solves the problem of training emerging leaders via great content on demand with community and certification in a cost effective manner.
