Warner Bros. Slams Brittany Murphy Death Claims

Brittany Murphy, Simon Monjack AP PHoto/Dan Steinberg

That sound you hear? That's the sound of it being on.

As expected, Warner Bros. is none too pleased with Simon Monjack's extraordinarily damning accusation that the studio's decision to pink-slip Brittany Murphy pretty much directly caused her death.

Go figure.

More from H'Wood Party Girl

Despite their crazy busy schedules, Josh Duhamel and Fergie seem to be joined at the hip lately.

On Tuesday, Josh was in NYC pimping When in Rome and wearing tiaras on morning shows before heading off to Sundance with the wifey in tow for The Romantics premiere that night.

Then just last night, the über-tight twosome hit the L.A. premiere of Rome here in Hollywood.

Sheesh. All this quality time together, including train-holding and wedding-vow renewals, has almost made us forget about that whole little stripper scandal...

Style Showdown: Katie Holmes vs. Naomi Watts

More from 2010_sundance

Fashion understandably takes a backseat at the Sundance Film Festival, as everyone's more concerned about keeping their tushes warm as they trek between indie-movie screenings.

But some stars add a little style to their outerwear, like fashionistas Naomi Watts and Katie Holmes, who showed up in Utah to support their flicks in similar Tod's down jackets.

Naomi punches up her shiny parka with a purple turtleneck layered underneath and a pretty smile.

Katie, meanwhile, piles the accessories on over the coat—wearing a long scarf and her beloved Hurley beanie (yeah, the same one girlfriend's been rocking since Suri was in diapers), plus a curtain of bedraggled bangs.

So which star wins this cold-weather round?

Zac Efron Officially on Fire

Zac Efron James Devaney/Getty Images

Zac Efron has finally graduated from High School. Now it's time for college.

The erstwhile heartthrob is working overtime to put more distance between him and his Disneyfied past, signing on to both star in and executive produce Fire, a thriller based on the same-named graphic novel.

E! News confirms that Efron will play an undergrad who is chosen for a special CIA project that tests whether ordinary citizens can—with singing and dancing proper training—be turned into forces to be reckoned with.

We're not sure about you, but Fire's starting to sound pretty hot.

Hubby Blames Studio for Brittany Murphy's Death, Plans to Sue

Whenever tragedy strikes, someone's always to blame, especially in Hollywood.

Brittany Murphy died suddenly Dec. 20, and her husband feels someone has to pay.

Although the official cause of death has yet to be announced pending toxicology test results, Simon Monjack is ready to point fingers at Warner Bros., which fired the 32-year-old actress from the sequel to Happy Feet just two weeks before her death.

"They killed her," he tells The Daily Beast.

Nice Day for a Televised, TV Lothario's Wedding! Bachelor Jason Sets the Date

Jason Mesnick, Molly Maloney, The Bachelor ABC/MATT KLITSCHER

The last time Jason Mesnick appeared on national TV with his fiancée and so-called love of his life, things didn't go well. (For her, that is. At least not until Dancing With the Stars came a-calling.)

But despite all odds, the infamous flip-flopping Bachelor is still together with soul mate No. 2 and is tempting both fate and the ratings gods by agreeing to appear with her on ABC one more time.

For their wedding.

Well, of course, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are breaking up

They're breaking up for awards season.

Is the Jersey Shore Harvard-Bound?

Jersey Shore, Vinny Guadagnino Scott Gries / Picture Group for MTV

Looks can be deceiving, especially after throwing back a few at Karma.

Jersey Shore's Vinny Guadagnino may be a muscley, fist-pumping guido, but he's also wicked smaht. Not only is he planning to go to law school, but the 21-year-old is aiming for the top.

"I took the LSAT," he told Us Weekly. "My score was decent. I had a plan that if my score was really well [sic], then I might have just went to Yale or Harvard...But it was just mediocre."

Mediocrity may not get him into the Ivy League, but it can certainly take him somewhere else.

"I can get into law school," he added. "I had a 3.9 GPA, Latin Honors, but I'm doing this right now. Law school is always on the back burner."

By this, he means being a reality star. Now that's aiming high!

Rob vs. Kristen: Who Moves On Better?

Kristen Stewart, The Runaways, Robert Pattinson, Remember Me Runaway Productions; Summit Entertainment
More from The Awful Truth

With all the positive hype surrounding both of Kristen Stewart's flicks at Sundance, it got us thinking more about Robert Pattinson's also blossoming and promising career, and what we can expect in Remember Me.

If you all remember, we heard that Rob's acting was quite good in the upcoming drama costarring Emilie de Ravin.

So what, then, is worrying some suits who are busily involved in R.Pattz's big-screen ambitions?

Neil Patrick Harris a Natural Critic on American Idol

Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.

Take a peek at a photo of Joe Jonas looking hot. That about sums up what he brought to the American Idol judges table tonight.

Unlike Neil Patrick Harris, who added a certain je ne sais quoi to the panel with his quick wit, laid-back vibe and willingness to contradict Simon Cowell. The high school drama teacher sweater vest helped, too.

Combining a certain newbie enthusiasm with the skepticism of the musical theater veteran that he is, NPH dished out plenty of "no no no no nos," mocking half-smiles and raised eyebrows.

But the How I Met Your Mother standout also offered up kind encouragement to the auditioners he truly believed in, such as 26-year-old Kimberly Carver, whose jazzy original song left Simon cold but had Neil bopping along to the beat.

All told, 31 yellow flyers were handed out in Dallas, where a few more standouts joined the ranks of ones to watch in Hollywood, namely Christian Spear, 16; Maegan Wright, 20; Todrick Hall, 24; Dave Pittman, 27; and Lloyd Thomas, 29.

How I Met Your Mother may be getting a sixth season, but one of our faves got the ax today after only four. Help us mourn the impending end of Ugly Betty right here.

Stars Banding Together to Record New "We Are the World" for Haiti

More from Marc Malkin

The world still needs help.

It's been 25 years since Quincy Jones helped gather the biggest names in music to record "We Are the World," but the song is as relevant today as it was then.

Jones confirmed to me today that he's helping spearhead a new recording of the charity song, with the proceeds going to help Haiti. The new version will be recorded on Monday in Los Angeles.

"It's the 25th anniversary and it's perfect timing," Jones said at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, where he was celebrating the launch of his new watch collection for Audemars Piguet. "It's not an accident, man. That's God. It will be 'We Are the World' for Haiti."

Jones declined to name which singers have committed themselves, but I can tell you...
