CAIR crows at victory over National Review

Rich Lowry is choosing his battles; but how many more like this can we afford to lose?

CAIR's crowing press release:

NATIONAL REVIEW REMOVES BOOKS ATTACKING PROPHET MUHAMMAD Hundreds contact Boeing to urge withdrawal of magazine ads

(WASHINGTON, D.C., 3/29/05) - Alhamdulillah (praise be to God), CAIR today announced that National Review magazine has apparently removed advertisements for two virulently anti-Muslim books attacking the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from its online store.

The removal of the promotional materials for "The Life and Religion of Mohammed" and "The Sword of the Prophet" came after hundreds of concerned Muslims contacted the magazine and Boeing Co., one of the magazine's advertisers, to express their concerns about the Islamophobic views in both books. The previous links to each book, which were working as late as this afternoon, state "Record not found for product."

Yesterday, CAIR issued an action alert calling on Muslims and other people of conscience to urge that Boeing withdraw advertising support from National Review because of its promotion of anti-Muslim hate. Boeing representatives say they were "inundated" with faxes, e-mails and calls.

"We would like to thank all those who took the time to contact both National Review and Boeing to defend Islam and the Prophet Muhammad from defamation," said CAIR Executive Director Nihad Awad. "Once again, your calls, e-mails and faxes have truly made a difference."

Choose your battles. Sure. But to hand a victory to Awad, who is on record supporting the terrorists of Hamas, and Ahmad, who is on record saying that Islam is in America to become dominant, and the Qur'an the only law of the land, is that choosing your battles wisely? By the time you decide to draw the line, will there be anything left to defend?

Personally, I think it was the henna dye that Mohammad used on his hair that poisoned his brain.

Why else would anyone rape a prepubescent child? And call it 'holy'?

R Spencer:
The Bush' regime's "Islam is peace" dogma is undermining the War on Terror, by anathemizing believers in the inherent belligerence of Muslims. It is plain and obvious that the "moderate" Muslim posture is taken either for strategic advantage or out of transient ignorance. I am personally aware of Muslim families where the parents are nominal "moderates" while their children are MSA Islamofascists. There are 2 types of Muslims: potential or actual jihadis. Until a majority in the West learns that, Terrorists will continue to win the war of attrition, notwithstanding nominal victories. See how major US companies, with interests in the Arab Middle East, are financing our own demise.

“On a personal level, I have a better understanding of the Muslim faith and culture and politics in that part of the world,” Niece said. “I did not realize the similarities between Christianity and Islamic faith. I hope the personal interaction with Dr. Arabi and his personality will do the same thing for U of O and the community, so that individuals will have a better understanding and will not allow the extremists to represent the majority.“

Arabi’s lectures consisted of topics such as Religious and Legal Aspects of Contemporary Islam; The Qur’anic View of the Soul; The Islamic View of Jesus; Recent Developments in Islamic Family Law; The Rise of Islam and its Basic Articles of Faith; The Formation and Development of Islamic Law; Principle of Law and Family Law; and Women’s Rights and Views on Divorce.

Maybe Niece will understand better the disassociation between him as an unbeliever and islam when they come for him. He'll probably have an epiphany just about the time he sees blood on the floor, and realizes it's his.

Mr.Lowry has made a terrible mistake in buckling to CAIR. Now they are of the preception they have won the big war, and in the future manipulate NRO at any given time.
Mr.Lowry should have known better by now. Stepping back even one tiny step is the signal of weakness and victory for the radicals.

I cannot get over how Lowry has buckled over something as small as book ad. This not a good thing.

Let him know of your displeasure:

If NR caved in, what can we expect from more liberal media? NR can say, "Well, we don't want to deal with lawsuits, and, besides, at least we're not mouthpieces for these islamofascists", but you know what, it's not enough. It's not okay to stifle discussion and scholarly analysis on the grounds of political correctness.

It is legitimate to analyze why 1.4 billion people on this planet believe that it is okay for a 50-year-old man to have sex with a 9-year-old girl, that it is okay to sell children into slavery, and that the Koran abrogates the Old and New Testaments. Especially since we let many of these third world Muslim scumbags immigrate into the West.

NR did not meet our high expectations, and it's disappointing.

This was posted late on the thread at the first NR story; it has been transposed here, still relevant:

The head of CAIR, one Omar Ahmed, is a self-described "Palestinian." Last year CAIR sued a Canadian paper, The National Post, and David Frum, for publishing an article about the ties of some at CAIR to terrorism, or examples of their statements that belie their outward tone of reasonableness. Here is an excerpt from an article Frum wrote about the matter (it appeared at www.frontpagemag.com):

"CAIR's founding chairman, Omar Ahmed, also an IAP alumnus, is said to have declared at a public event in California in July, 1998: "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran . . . should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth." Ahmed has since disputed the accuracy of the quote--five years after it was reported by a California newspaper."

Make of it what you will. Perhaps someone knows whether that lawsuit has been settled.

One wishes to add that Omar Ahmed, in addition to his tireless work on behalf of Islam and its promotion until it assumes what he regards as its rightful place in America and the World, meanwhile makes his living as CEO of a company called Silicon Expert Technologies.

That company can be searched for on-line; among the companies that have a "partnership" with "Silicon Expert Technologies" is Azerity. One would like to think that computer engineers, and computer executives at other companies, in choosing whether or not to "partner" or have other dealings with Omar Ahmed, would first fully inform themselves of what CAIR does, and what Omar Ahmed does and says and thinks, and perhaps factor that into their mental equation, and even, one would like to think, in their business decisions. One would hope, as well, that those alive in 1938 would not have bought Voigtlander cameras, or in 1953 bought Baltic amber from official Soviet outlets, such as Vneshtorg, which would use that valyuta or hard currency for purposes inimicable to the health of liberal democracies.

Everyone is free to consider the wellbeing and safety of our own, Infidel ways and institutions, and their continued existence, in making decisions as to what partners it wishes to have, and what companies it wishes to hire to provide goods and services. And others, in turn, can make their commercial decisions as to whether or not to have dealings with that second company as well.

Or not, as the case may be.

CAIR seems to have had an effect on Boeing. Perhaps others, in their own small way, can have an effect on the businesses which those who run CAIR, or contribute to CAIR, or support CAIR in any way, may rely on for their livelihood.

Sauce for the goose, sauce for that famous gander.

What are they going to do? Boycott Boeing?

That'd be fantastic! I'd certainly feel allot safer flying.

No -- CAIR has, it is assumed by Boeing, connections to states in the Middle East that are present or potential customers. This is the implied power of CAIR: its connections to foreign powers and potentates.

Is this getting any news play?

> I cannot get over how Lowry has buckled over something as small as book ad. This not a good thing.

Mr. Lowry buckled over the potential loss of advertising income from a large and influential client. That's the trouble with money. Not that it's a bad thing in itself--I'll take all I can get morally and legally--but you can get used to it. Many people's convictions have been compromised over the years by the lure of financial gain, or by the threat of financial loss.

I checked the nrbookservice links just now and the latter one is there while the former is not. I am not sure that the problem is that NR has removed them.
