Iran to set up secret nuclear faculty: intelligence source

Golly, those pious mullahs couldn't be trying to deceive anyone, could they? From AFP, with thanks to Nicolei:

VIENNA : Iran is to establish a secret nuclear engineering faculty within a year to provide engineers for what the United States claims is a covert project to develop atomic weapons, a Western intelligence source told AFP.

"This is a very significant step towards training an Iranian nuclear cadre," the source, who asked not to be named, said in a recent interview.

The Sunday Telegraph newspaper reported in London Sunday that Iran has approved a secret nuclear research centre to train scientists in atomic technology.

Iranian officials, questioned by AFP recently, have so far declined to comment on this matter.

"The declared purpose for establishing the faculty is to create a source of skilled and professional manpower to promote Iran's military nuclear project, whose activity is increasing," the source told AFP.

"By setting up this installation, the Iranians are trying to make sure they have trained people whom the West doesn't even know about," the source said....

I would Love to understand one thing, who is the money behind this iranian move? is it that the chinese may-be looking for away to attack us without attacking us?, and using the iranan government to do this?
and what is Bush doing? we hear alot about some of this but after a week or so nothing? the fact is our government has made it possible for just about any kind of attack on our population and that would in fact kill this nation once and for all, but maybe that is what the power people in our government really want?
follow the money, see who is doing who and why, you in the end will see a Red Chinese guy doing business the old cold war way.

That's right Fred. The US economy is floating on Chinese loans.

Still, the US has its own problems to clean up before it goes exporting 'democracy' to oil-rich 'rogue states'.

BEMIDJI, Minnesota (Reuters) - A 17-year-old who killed nine people and himself on a Minnesota Indian reservation identified himself as an "angel of death" and a "NativeNazi" on Internet postings, a newspaper has reported.
Officials sealed off the remote town of Red Lake, 60 miles (100 km) south of the Canadian border, while they investigated Monday's bloodbath, the worst U.S. school shooting since the 1999 Columbine massacre.

Floyd Jourdain Jr., chairman of the Red Lake Indian council, called the tragedy "the darkest day in the history of our tribe."
The shooter was Red Lake High School student Jeff Weise, according to witnesses and school officials.

Weise identified himself in Internet site postings as "Todesengel," German for "angel of death" and "NativeNazi," the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported.

He also claimed to have been questioned by police in 2004 about an alleged plot to shoot up the school on the anniversary of Adolf Hitler's birthday, but said he had nothing to do with that, the report said.

"I guess I've always carried a natural admiration for Hitler and his ideals, and his courage to take on larger nations," the newspaper quoted Weise as saying in one forum used by neo-Nazis.
Other reports described Weise as someone who was often teased at the school.

Weise's rampage began when he shot dead his grandfather, identified as veteran tribal police officer Daryl "Dash" Lussier, and Lussier's girlfriend at their home.

The gunman then drove his grandfather's police car to the school, where he killed a male security guard, a teacher and five students before taking his own life, the FBI said.
"We believe the shooter was acting alone," said FBI agent Paul McCabe, adding the dead at the school were all in one room.

The gunman fired at doors of classrooms barricaded by terrified students and teachers, witnesses said.

"He came into the school and the first person he shot was the security officer at the door," said Molly Miron, editor of the Bemidji Pioneer newspaper. "One of the students told me he pointed his gun at a boy and then changed his mind, smiled, waved at him, and shot somebody else."

Police, alerted to the massacre when students used cell phones to call for help, said they exchanged gunfire with the gunman, who ducked into a classroom and shot himself.
Witnesses said he was armed with a shotgun or rifle and at least one handgun.

It was the deadliest U.S. school shooting since the April 20, 1999, Columbine High School massacre in Colorado in which 14 students -- including the two killers -- and a teacher died.
The Minnesota reservation is controlled by the Ojibwa tribe, commonly known as the Chippewa, which says it has roughly 10,000 members, about half of whom live on the reservation.

The tribe runs its own affairs and operates casinos in the state and a small casino in Red Lake, 35 miles (55 km) north of Bemidji on the shores of Lower Red Lake. But the casinos are not as successful as others in more populous areas and unemployment on the reservation is high.
It was the latest multiple shooting in a month of deadly gun violence in the United States, including the deaths of seven people at a church service near Milwaukee and four more in an Atlanta courtroom escape.

WELL! WELL! WELL! DO YOU THINK THEY WILL PUT THAT WITH THOSE MISSLES THAT THE UKRAINE SOLD THEM???

Yes, Whitequeen, you're perfectly right.

The US shouldn't get involved in other nation's business until everything is perfect in the United States.

Not until crime is abolished (err...how?), until every wild area is restored, until every lawn is rife with row on row of grass, each blade straight-stalked with the faintest curl-over - to the east, of course, towards Washington, should the US become involved with anything, anywhere.

Yes, citizens! [stirring music in background] Not until all disease - even the common cold! - is eradicated here, not until there is no more poverty, not until we have those electric cars, personal jetpacks and undersea cities we were promised, should the US become involved in other people's affairs.

Not, indeed, until people stop speeding or parking in handicapped spots, or stop pronouncing it "anyWAYS", and until we fix that hole in the ozone with giant sheets of saranwrap and a "can-do!" attitude, should we be involving ourselves in other countries!

At which point, the rest of the world can bitch about how Americans are imperialistic and conceited and reject their help anyway.

...

Suits me! How about you?

Geoff

One can only hope that all Western diplomats have notified the leadership of every Muslim country in sympathy with Iran's aims (as fellows in the grand 'Restored Caliphate' dream):

-your Muslim brothers nuke one of our cities,
we nuke two Muslim cities.

Mecca and Medina seem like the obvious choices, and their populations could be given a week to flee, and then the Hadj would have to be postponed for whatever the half-life of the fissile material in the weapons used was... say 1,500 years or so...to match the length of time that Islam has been terrorizing the world...

As an incentive for them to control their own maniacs.

Turning the old M. in "Mutually Assured Destruction" (M.A.D.) to Muslim, instead.

Unless they will listen to mere reason.

And that's about as likely as a woman ayatollah.

Here is a story I read about at LGF.

Death at 'immoral' picnic in the park
By Catherine Philp
Students are beaten to death for playing music as Shia militiamen run amok

THE students had begun to lay out their picnic in the spring sunshine when the men attacked.
“There were dozens of them, armed with guns, and they poured into the park,” Ali al-Azawi, 21, the engineering student who had organised the gathering in Basra, said.

“They started shouting at us that we were immoral, that we were meeting boys and girls together and playing music and that this was against Islam.

“They began shooting in the air and people screamed. Then, with one order, they began beating us with their sticks and rifle butts.” Two students were said to have been killed.

Standing over them as the blows rained down was the man who gave the order, dressed in dark clerical garb and wearing a black turban. Ali recognised him immediately as a follower of Hojatoleslam Moqtada al-Sadr, the radical Shia cleric. Ali realised then that the armed men were members of Hojatoleslam al-Sadr’s Mehdi Army, a private militia that fought American forces last year and is now enforcing its own firebrand version of Islam.

The picnic had run foul of the Islamist powers that increasingly hold sway in the fly-blown southern city, where religious militias rule the streets, forcing women to don the veil and closing down shops that sell alcohol or music.

In the election in January, the battle between secular and religious forces in Basra came down to the ballot box. The main Shia alliance triumphed with 70 per cent of the province’s vote, most of the rest going to a secular rival.

That victory has brought to a head the issue of whether Iraq’s new constitution will adopt Islamic law — or Sharia — as most religious Shia leaders desire.

In Basra, however, Islamic militias already are beginning to apply their own version of that law, without authority from above or any challenge from the police.

Students say that there was nothing spontaneous about the attack. Police were guarding the picnic in the park, as is customary at any large public gathering, but allowed the armed men in without any resistance.

One brought a video camera to record the sinful spectacle of the picnic, footage of which was later released to the public as a warning to others.

It showed images of one girl struggling as a gunman ripped her blouse off, leaving her half-naked. “We will send these pictures to your parents so they can see how you were dancing naked with men,” a gunman told her. Two students who went to her aid were shot — one in the leg, the other twice in the stomach. The latter was said to have died of his injuries. Fellow students say that the girl later committed suicide. Another girl who was severely beaten around the head lost her sight.

Far from disavowing the attack, senior al-Sadr loyalists said that they had a duty to stop the students’ “dancing, sexy dress and corruption”.

“We beat them because we are authorised by Allah to do so and that is our duty,” Sheik Ahmed al-Basri said after the attack. “It is we who should deal with such disobedience and not the police.”

After escaping with two students, Ali reached a police station and asked for help. “What do you expect me to do about it?” a uniformed officer asked

Oh, the girl that supposedly "committed suicide" was beaten to death according to an Iraqi blogger.

What makes the Russian government think that the weapons-technology aid it gives Iran will not, in the end, be used against Russia itself? The Soviet Union seized part of northern Iran and held it for several years after World War II; it was forced out by American, not Iranian pressure). The Russians are Infidels; they are fighting Muslims in Chechnya and will have to continue doing so; what exactly makes them think that they are immune? If they think that deterrence of the kind that worked with rational Western states could apply to the Islamic Republic of Iran, or to some group either within or outside the Iranian government, they are wrong.

And while Islamic solidarity is paramount, and the only loyalty which Muslims are permitted, if you are a Sunni, and regard Shi'a Muslims as Infidels, is it not at least possible that Iranian nuclear weapons might also be used against Saudi Arabia if, for example, the Shi'a in the eastern province of al-Hasa (with all the oil) were to rebel, and be suppressed?

Of course, everyone will condemn either America or Israel should either, or both, destroy Iran's nuclear project. Condemn openly. But in secret many Sunni Arabs, and many Europeans who will be the first to express shock and dismay, will be secretly pleased.

I think its time to unleash Isreal!!

Not on topic, but need-to-know comment from Spain, on the motivation of Hugo Chavez' confrontationist politics:

http://www.firmaspress.com/493.htm

Counter-terror warriors need to understand Jacob Talmon's concept of "totalitarian democracy," before supporting one-time plebiscitory sanctions for communist, fascist or islamofascist tyranny. Chavez is floating on the polluted waters of inclusivism. Updating Clausewitz: democratic legitimation of populist totalitariansm, is surrender by non-military means.

Following Whitequeen's [il]logic, if the US should focus on internal problems what about the broader Muslim world sending money and jihaddists to Iraq, Chechnya, Palestine etc. when their own houses are in deplorable order?

Jeff Weise may have been living in a squalid community that happened to be native, but the Columbine murderers were from very comfortable backgrounds. All of them were antisocial personalities fascinated by with a narcissistic, nihilistic ideology.

And what about Whitequeen's 19 co-religionists, inspired by the Koran, to hijack airplanes and fly them into various buildings on Sept. 11/01? None of them came from hard circumstances either.
