Hope and Death Panels May Be on Their Way

2010 March 18

Democratic Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio), an avid socialist who nearly destroyed Cleveland as that city’s mayor, has caved in to pressure from President Obama, Glenn Beck noted on his TV show. Given Kucinich’s track record of anti-Americanism, it shouldn’t be all that surprising that the lawmaker who had been a firm “no” vote on ObamaCare succumbed to arm-twisting.

And if those who place bets at the predictions exchange Intrade are to be believed, as I write this blog post ObamaCare has a 65.5% chance of being imposed on Americans before June 30.

Think about that for a moment. read more…

A Memorial to the Victims of Communism

2010 March 18

Today, FrontPage Magazine published a must read article written by Barbara Kay.

The subject of the piece is FPM’s managing editor Jamie Glazov’s father, Yuri. Yuri Glazov was an outspoken critic of the Soviet regime. After signing the infamous “letter of the twelve,” the regime had enough and declared war on him. They trumped up some drugs related charges and prepared to send him to the Gulag.

Realizing his life was on the line, he told his family to pack their bags. They fled to Canada. Here, Yuri continued to and expose and fight communism and its many evils. read more…

From the Writings of David Horowitz: March 18, 2010

2010 March 18

It will probably come as a surprise to many people, both friend and foe alike, that I am opposed to any attempt to fire Ward Churchill for the essay (now part of a book) that has become notorious in which he denounces his own country as a genocidal empire, supports America’s terrorist enemies, and says that 9/11 was a case of the “chickens coming home to roost.” read more…

Does Free Speech Trump the Right to Privacy? Phelps’ Putrid Protests of Soldier’s Funeral Goes to the Supreme Court

2010 March 17

When we lost our 13 year old son in a car accident, we clung to our Christian faith. We were held up by those that loved us. When we stumbled in our sorrow, we borrowed the faith of others, and managed to get up again.

On the way to the cemetery, with the procession behind us, I saw a line of cars that stretched over two miles, winding through the country roads; the outpouring of our community helped us to face the unthinkable.

That’s what we do. We comfort those who grieve. Not just Christians, but humanity. Unless of course, you’re the Rev. Fred Phelps of the Westboro “Baptist” Church (of Damnation). A man whose mission field is to travel hundreds of miles just to pour salt into the wounds of grieving families, by protesting the funerals of their sons and daughters– our fallen soldiers.

Now he is on his way to the Supreme Court. His daughter, a licensed attorney, is expected to argue the case. Will this venom spewing snake argue in defense of our First Amendment rights?

Obama Dodges Every Single Question During FOX Interview with Bret Baier

2010 March 17

I wish I could say I heard anything new or interesting in President Barack Obama’s interview with Bret Baier, but all I got was the same old dishonest, deceptive and unsubstantiated double talk.

Baier’s first question was whether Obama supported the Slaughter Strategy. He never answered the question, and went off on his standard campaign style justification for his health care bill.

Baier’s second question came from viewer’s eMails asking why, if the bill was so good, that even with his huge majority, he couldn’t pass it and had to resort to bribes & trickery. Again, he avoided answering the question entirely.

British PSA Agency Tells Al Gore: You Lie

2010 March 17

Lori Ziganto’s latest article at iOwntheworld

Well, maybe they didn’t say it directly to Al Gore, but I’m pretending that they did in my mind, because it pleases me immensely.

From NewsBusters:

A British agency has banned two government television ads for exaggerating the danger of global warming.

Hee hee. Banned! For totally made-up exaggerating. Oh, if only we could ban Al Gore himself!

As reported by BBC.com Wednesday:

Two posters juxtaposed adapted extracts from popular nursery rhymes with text that warned about the dangers of global warning.

One of the banned adverts read: “Rub a dub, three men in a tub, a necessary course of action due to flash flooding caused by climate change.”

And a second said Jack and Jill could not fetch a pail of water because extreme weather due to climate change had caused a drought.

I would have banned them just for being totally lame and trite. They should have gone all out and said “Humpy Dumpty sat on a wall, Humpty Dumpty had a great fall — BECAUSE THE ENTIRE EARTH DISAPPEARED!!!”

Those Pesky “Procedural Rules”

2010 March 17

President Obama said in a FoxNews interview with Bret Baier,

“I don’t spend a lot of time worrying about what the procedural rules are in the House or Senate.”

Yeah, those pesky “procedural rules” like the Constitution, Barry-O?

He has really stepped in it with this one.  This is the gaffe of all gaffes.  I really do not know how Obama or his handlers can walk back this one.

The best thing Republicans can do is just sit back and let this guy talk.  The more Obama talks, the less substantive he becomes.  He is The Incredible Shrinking Man.

Fighting Irish In the Trenches: Kathy Shaidle’s St. Patrick’s Day Toast to the Irish – Slantie! All Your Ancestors Were Ignorant Drunks!

2010 March 17

null

In an uncharacteristically acidic post, NRB Kathy Shaidle turns her normally elegant and erudite pen to a gratuitous, baffling attack on the Irish. In response to NRB Blogger Michelle Horstman’s post celebrating the rise of Irish Immigrants from abject poverty and prejudice to complete integration and participation in American society, Kathy felt it was a great day to rain on the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and pour the Irish a round of vitriol on tap:

“…the reason “nativists” hated these newcomers enough to burn down Catholic convents and call for mass Irish deportation was that, well, the Irish were for the most part uneducated drunken brawlers.”

Wow! How’s that for a generalization! 7.6 million Irish immigrated to America from Ireland between 1820 and the early 1900’s and most of them were ignorant drunks? I would love to see some serious scholarship to back that up. read more…

The Obama Administration’s Bias Against Israel

2010 March 17

I am mad as hell and I am not going to take this anymore. David Axelrod, President Obama’s senior advisor stated on Meet the Press that Israel’s decision and announcement, during Vice-President Biden’s Middle East visit, to build 1600 new housing units in Jerusalem was “an affront and was an insult…This announcement was very destructive.” Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was also “insulted.”

This administration as well as others has a convenient loss of memory. Between 1949 and 1967 East Jerusalem was under Jordanian control. During that time, Jews were not allowed to pray at the Western Wall, fifty-eight synagogues and Jewish schools were destroyed in the Old City, and the Jewish cemetery of the Mount of Olives was systematically desecrated.

Why am I angry? The Obama administration continues to single out Israel. John Bolton, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, has been quoted that “The Obama administration believes that Israel is as much or more of a problem as it is an ally, at least until Israel’s disagreements with its neighbors are resolved.” As an American and a Jew I am insulted with this administration’s outrageous and inflammatory statements. read more…

“Discover the Networks” is Bitter Medicine to Progressives

2010 March 17

Last week, David Swindle wrote this piece about Dianne Feinstein and Russ Feingold being furious that Homeland Security reports include information from David Horowitz’s Discover The Networks. Of course they were! Exposing the truth is a bitter pill for progressives to swallow and very detrimental to their objectives.

This attitude, as does most of their thinking, follows the Alinsky ideology:

“An organizer working in and for an open society is in an ideological dilemma to begin with, he does not have a fixed truth — truth to him is relative and changing; everything to him is relative and changing…. To the extent that he is free from the shackles of dogma, he can respond to the realities of the widely different situations.”

The truth is the truth and there is no relativity about it. The truth….that is what David Horowitz is sharing on Discover the Networks , and the truth is their enemy.
