The first multicellular organism to have its genome fully sequenced, C. elegans is a nematode that lives in soil, feeds on bacteria, and reaches about 0.04 in (1 mm) in length. High Fructose Corn Syrup Really Worse than Sugar?

Preliminary findings from a long-term study of rats seem to indicate that high-fructose corn syrup leads to greater weight gain than regular cane sugar. The researchers reported that rats fed water sweetened with high-fructose corn syrup for six months developed more belly fat and had an increased level of circulating triglycerides. Critics, however, say the researchers' decision to attribute significance to statistically indistinguishable weights calls their conclusions into question.
