Police layoffs on hold for now; business owners, residents relieved

North Toledo convenience store manager Abott Sama was among the city's relieved residents and business owners when he learned Wednesday that layoffs of 125 police officers are on hold - at least for now. Mayor Mike Bell agreed to at least temporarily rescind the 30-day layoff notices sent Monday to 20 percent of the city's police force. >>

Cedar Fair LP's largest shareholder Wednesday told the company it is not seeking a higher purchase price from Apollo Global Management and would rather that the company focus on restructuring its massive debt. 'Davy Crockett' star Fess Parker dies at 85

"Davy Crockett" and "Daniel Boone" star-turned-developer and vintner Fess Parker has died. He was 85. Family spokeswoman Sao Anash says Parker died Thursday morning of natural causes at his Santa Ynez home near the Fess Parker Winery. His death comes on the 84th birthday of his wife of 50 years, Marcella. >>
