All notifications, friend requests, and new messages will appear in the upper left corner of the site. When you have a new notification, a red bubble will be displayed over the corresponding feature with the number of new notifications you have received. For example, if a user has sent you a friend request, you'll see the number "1" above the Friend Request icon. Simply click on the icon to view or take action on new notifications.

Keep in mind that you can click these icons at any time for additional actions related to that feature, such as clicking the Message notification icon to see a preview of your Inbox or send a new message, or clicking the Friend Request icon to find more friends on the site.

When you're logged in to Facebook, pop up notifications appear in real time when your friends interact with you (for example: post on your Wall (timeline) or comment on something you posted).

To see the content the story is referring to, just click on the pop up bubble. Stories that appear in pop up notifications also appear as regular red alert notifications and email notifications in case you miss them.

Please make sure that you received this request at an email address that is listed on your account. If the request was sent to a different email address then it will not show in your account. Feel free to send the other person a friend request from your account. Alternatively, you could ask them to request you as a friend again at the appropriate email address.

In addition, if someone deactivates his or her account, you will not see the friend request on your Home page.

Follow these tips to troubleshoot your issue:
  1. Make sure you have not adjusted your Notifications Settings.

  3. If you're still not receiving emails from Facebook, please contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider) to ensure that they are not blocking email traffic coming from Facebook.
  4. If the issue continues, please report it to us.
