Project 1: Controlling material structures and properties at the nanoscale

The goal of this project is to use quantum confinement and optical resonances in semiconductors and high index oxide nanostructures to dramatically enhance the efficiency of solar absorbers.

Project 2: Using advanced synthesis tools guided by computational materials design

The goal of this project is to engineer catalysts with atomic scale precision for two key electrochemical energy conversion reactions for water splitting, namely, water oxidation (oxygen evolution), and hydrogen evolution.
