A Company of Authors

Come celebrate Shakespeare’s birthday at the eighthannual A Company of Authors. An amazing group of Stanford writers will be discussing their recently published books. Each author will make a brief presentation and be available for conversation and book signing.

Among the authors present will be Jack Rakove (Revolutionaries), Ian Morris (Why the West Rules— For Now), Herbert Lindenburger (Situating Opera), Karen Wigen (A Malleable Map), Cynthia Haven (An Invisible Rope), Susan Krieger (Traveling Blind), Charlotte Jacobs (Henry Kaplan), Stina Katchadourian (The Lapp King’s Daughter), Myra Strober (Interdisciplinary Conversations), Karen Offen (Globalizing Feminisms), William Kays (Letters from a Soldier), Gabriella Safran (Wandering Soul), Michele Elam (The Souls of Mixed Folk), and Abbas Milani (Myth of the Great Satan and The Shah).

A Company of Authors is hosted by Peter Stansky, Field Professor of History, Emeritus, and is co-sponsored by the Stanford Humanities Center and the Stanford Bookstore. Drop in, or indulge yourself by spending the entire afternoon in the company of these bright, entertaining, and stimulating writers.
