About the Funding Information Network

Network partners provide a suite of tools and resources consisting of Foundation Center databases, publications and a variety of supplementary materials and services in areas useful to grantseekers.

A key initiative of Foundation Center is to reach under-resourced and underserved populations throughout the United States and in other locations around the globe, who are in need of useful information and training to become successful grantseekers. One of the ways we accomplish this goal is by designating new Funding Information Network partners in regions that have the ability to serve the nonprofit communities most in need of Foundation Center resources.

We are seeking proposals from qualified institutions (e.g. public, academic or special libraries, nonprofit resource centers, centers for innovation, community foundations, United Ways, etc.) that can help us carry out this important initiative.

Director of Operations

Katie Farnan started with Foundation Center as a reference librarian in 2008, working on the Ask Us chat service and developing creative communications for the organization in the form of videos and infographics. From there she moved into lead roles in the Funding Information Network program as well as GrantSpace.org. She now directs marketing and operational activities (including impact measurement) for the Social Sector Outreach unit, which is the Center's most forward-facing unit.

Katie earned her master's degree in library and information science at Kent State University in 2008 and has worked in special libraries, business libraries, and public libraries prior to working at Foundation Center. She was a 2008 Emerging Leader with the American Library Association. Outside the Center, Katie co-founded YNPN Cleveland in her home state of Ohio, a network that promotes the development of young professionals. She enjoys graphic design as a hobby and lives in Boulder, CO, with her family.

Director of the Funding Information Network

Kate leads the direction, growth, and deeper engagement of the Funding Information Network, both domestically and globally. Kate joined Foundation Center in 2014 as the e-resources librarian at Foundation Center West. Before joining Foundation Center, Kate worked as a business librarian for a financial services provider in Chicago, IL. Prior to that, Kate discovered her passion for connecting people to the resources that can help them succeed at a nonprofit residential treatment facility for young adults in Chicago where she developed the in-house library/learning center. Kate holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English literature from St. Bonaventure University and a master’s in library and information science from Dominican University. Away from work, Kate enjoys adventures on the Internet, around her neighborhood, and in the great outdoors.

Cynthia Nuara

Funding Information Network Specialist

Cynthia joined Foundation Center in 2015 as the Funding Information Network Specialist, providing support to the 450+ members of the Funding Information Network as well as the Network Engagement team. Previously, Cynthia was the director of administrative services at the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center in New York City and is a returned Peace Corps volunteer (Guatemala, 2007-2009). She has experience in the nonprofit sector as a manager, consultant, board member, and volunteer. Cynthia received a B.A. in history and Spanish from the University of Rhode Island and an M.P.A. from Binghamton University. She lives in Queens, NY, with her family.
