Postdoctoral career planning begins with their appointment at Stanford. The planning involves discussions with the faculty mentor, colleagues, taking advantage of the courses, workshops and similar opportunities, as well as the workshops and courses offered through the career services centers on campus.
Postdocs are encouraged to initiate a discussion with their faculty mentors around their career and progress. The Initial Meeting and Annual Meeting mentor forms offer relevant discussion points to facilitate this conversation.
Additionally, the School of Medicine Career Center offers a full range of services to postdocs encompassing relationships with organizations and companies, a comprehensive calendar of events, talks and seminars that are offered through the Center as well as by other campus offices. For postdocs in the humanities, social sciences and engineering, the Stanford Career Development Center is an equally invaluable resource.
