Events

At Stanford, leadership in sustainability extends to all aspects of campus life – including events and event planning. Whether you join us for a sustainability tour, attend a conference on campus, or participate in a departmental meeting, you will witness the Stanford community maximizing resources, reducing waste, and offering an example of environmental stewardship.

Cardinal Green Event Program

Implementing green practices at large campus events, such as conferences and ceremonies, as well as small events, such as meetings and dinners, demonstrates a pervasive commitment to sustainability. The university's Greening Events at Stanford booklet helps groups plan and execute a more environmentally sustainable event. Sections provide education on food choices and catering, zero waste, communication, transportation, and post-event considerations specific to Stanford. A master checklist provides a comprehensive resource for all event organizers.

Celebrating Sustainability

Each year on April 22nd, Earth Day, the Office of Sustainability and its partners host Celebrating Sustainability at the Science and Engineering Quad Lawn. The event is an interactive festival designed to educate members of the campus community about Stanford’s sustainability achievements through fun, engaging activities and displays.

Celebrating Sustainability

Nearly 30 campus partners come together to introduce students to the multitude of ways they can explore sustainability on campus and beyond. Keys to Sustainability features guest speakers, giveaways, and information on sustainability related student groups, grants, internships, majors, departments and research opportunities.
