Biography 

Abbye Atkinson joined Stanford Law School as a Thomas C. Grey Fellow in 2014. Her research focuses on consumer bankruptcy, consumer law and commercial law, with a particular focus on the economic and financial condition of marginalized and underprivileged groups.

Previously, she worked as an associate in the San Francisco office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, where her practice focused on land use law and general litigation. She served as a law clerk to the Honorable Ronald M. Gould of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and for the Honorable Marilyn Hall Patel of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Prior to attending law school, she worked as a special education teacher in California public schools. She received her law degree from Harvard Law School and her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
