"Reporting from Cuba: How Pixels are Bringing Down the Wall of Censorship" with Yoani Sánchez
The Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law, The Program on Liberation Technology, The Association for Liberation Technology, The Stanford Human Rights Center, and The Center for Latin American Studies jointly present: A special lecture with Cuban blogger, Yoani Sánchez, entitled: “Reporting from Cuba: How Pixels are Bringing Down the Wall of Censorship”.
Yoani Sánchez is a Cuban blogger and journalist who has received world attention for her blog, Generation Y. President Barack Obama wrote that her blog, "provides the world a unique window into the realities of daily life in Cuba" and applauded her efforts to "empower fellow Cubans to express themselves through the use of technology." Time magazine listed Sanchez as one of the world's 100 most influential people. She was nominated by the Norwegian government in 2012 for the Nobel Peace Prize.
