    A small linguistic issue on a sad day: Why do we persist in using the euphemism "passing" for someone who died? So many public statements are on the "passing" of George Bush. Why not honor the language by noting the "death" of the 41st president instead?

    My bet is on peak China. Even with Trump in White House, clear majority of G20 still prefers democracy, rule of law and free market to Xi’s Totalitarianism 2.0 (and Russia’s Tsarism Lite).

    As the world gets more chaotic, the forces that could provide order are being eroded. China simply watches quietly and pockets the gains. My latest column:
