Before you map out your summer travel plans, be sure to look into the various travel resources Stanford has to offer.

Travel suitcase

  • Stanford Travel’s Orbitz for Business isn’t all work and no play. Stanford employees who use it for non-business travel can enjoy special negotiated discounts on hotel and cars. Plus, every month Stanford Travel has a new booking incentive.
  • The Stanford Alpine Chalet in North Lake Tahoe offers a $15/night discount for Stanford employees.
  • Stanford’s popular alumni Sierra Camp also offers a Faculty and Staff Weekend on Fallen Leaf Lake in the Sierra Nevada. It’s offered during the fall for those who want to stretch out their summer fun.

Whether you are traveling near or far, here are three simple tips to consider:

  1. Scan your passport, ID and itinerary and email it to yourself so you will have a digital copy in case you lose it.
  2. Bring an empty water bottle to the airport and refill it after you pass security.
  3. If you take medication, bring enough to last a few days beyond your trip if you experience unexpected delays. Also, in case you require a refill while traveling, be sure to pack your medication in its original bottle with prescription dosage and drug name.

For those traveling abroad, the Office of International Affairs also offers some Cardinal Tips for overseas travelers.
