FERPA (Family Educational Rights & Privacy Act) is a Federal law designed to protect the privacy of a student's education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education, including Stanford University. RALLIES & PROTESTS: What do I need to know to organize a rally at Stanford?
Stanford University has designated White Plaza as the designated University area available to University recognized departments and student groups for programs, speeches, rallies, information tables, banners and posters and can be scheduled through the Office of Student Activities (OSA), 723-2733 (except for information, all events and banner space must be scheduled with the OSA). White Plaza is also the designated area for free speech on campus. For more information, please review the Guidelines for Use of White Plaza, http://studentaffairs.stanford.edu/sal/planning/white-plaza-posting. The Main Quad and the Oval are NOT available for rallies or protests; please see University Policy Regarding Use Of The Oval and Policy On Use Of Main Quadrangle And Memorial Court.
