Stanford weathers one storm and prepares for another

Stanford emergency personnel, directed by Larry Gibbs, associate vice president for environmental health and safety, reacted to one storm and are bracing for another. A high-voltage PG&E transmission line failed on Tuesday, triggering an electrical outage. More stormy weather is coming.

Matching funds for faculty, staff donations to Haiti

Expanding a Stanford challenge grant for contributions to medical aid in Haiti, the university's senior leadership is contributing personal funds to match donations from all campus faculty and staff. The additional funds extend an aid effort begun by the School of Medicine and Stanford Hospital & Clinics so that all contributions made by university employees will be matched.  Read more.
