Architect chosen for McMurtry Building for art, art history

The architectual firm of Diller Scofidio + Renfro has been selected to design the Burton and Deedee McMurtry Building, which will be the new home of the Department of Art and Art History. The building will be key to the new "Arts District" taking shape on the north end of campus.

Mobile technology is focus of 2011 IT Open House

The focus of the 2011 IT Open House will be mobile technology on Thursday, April 21, at the Arrillaga Alumni Center. In addition, 15 technology "wizards" will be on hand to answer questions. Also featured will be a talk by faculty member Cliff Nass, author of The Man Who Lied to His Laptop.

Nuclear power's future uncertain after Fukushima crisis

Nobel laureate Burton Richter, left, and New York Times reporter Matthew Wald recently teamed up at the Energy Seminar, sponsored by the Woods and Precourt institutes, to discuss the future of nuclear power in light of the continuing crisis at the Fukushima plant in Japan.
