The 2014 Caltrain Go Pass and VTA Eco Pass are now available to eligible employees at the Parking & Transportation Services (P&TS) office. University and hospital employees enjoy free transit on Caltrain with the Go Pass, and they ride for free on VTA buses, express buses (including Dumbarton Express), and light rail with the Eco Pass.

Please note:

• There is no grace period. The 2013 passes will not be valid after Dec. 31, 2013. Riders must have the new 2014 Go Pass and Eco Pass as of Jan. 1, 2014.
• If you pick up your 2014 passes in November, both the 2013 and 2014 passes must be visible on your ID to avoid a lapse in coverage. This may require that we place the new passes on the back of your ID. If you prefer that your ID display only 2014 passes, please request your passes on or after Dec. 2.

Valid dates for 2014 passes:

• The 2014 Caltrain Go Pass will be valid from Dec. 1, 2013, through Dec. 31, 2014.
• The 2014 VTA Eco Pass will be valid from Dec. 16, 2013, through Dec. 31, 2014.

Eligible employees may pick up their 2014 Go Passes and Eco Passes on these dates and at these locations:

Parking & Transportation Services (P&TS) office

• Passes are available on weekdays, except holidays, beginning Nov. 20.
• Each eligible employee must bring his or her own university or hospital ID.
• P&TS is located at 340 Bonair Siding.
• Business hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., except holidays, and except Dec. 17 when the office has reduced hours of 7:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
• P&TS will be closed on Nov. 28 and Nov. 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday and from Monday, Dec. 23, through Friday, Jan. 3, for winter break.

Free transit pass distributions on and off campus
Each eligible employee must bring his or her own university or hospital ID to request passes.

To be valid, passes must be picked up in person by the eligible Stanford employee and affixed to his or her own Stanford ID (university faculty/staff ID or hospital badge). Passes will not be issued if someone brings another employee’s ID card or badge.

Please confirm that you are an eligible employee prior to requesting the passes. Check in advance with P&TS if you are otherwise eligible but one of the following circumstances applies to you:

• You are currently or were recently on a leave of absence. In order to be eligible, the HR database must reflect that you are an active employee.
• Your residence address is outside typical commuting range of Stanford’s main campus. To be eligible, your address in StanfordYou (university employees) or eConnect (hospital employees) must contain an eligible ZIP code outside Stanford property and within a reasonable daily commuting distance.

The passes may not be transferred to another person. Fraudulent use or transfer of these passes may result in confiscation, substantial fines, and revocation of transit pass and other privileges.

Parking enforcement: During the Thanksgiving holiday (Nov. 28 and 29), unless otherwise posted, parking permit enforcement will be suspended in all 'C' parking lots, most visitor spaces, and in most 'A' lots, with the exception of parking facilities serving the hospital and School of Medicine. 'A' parking spaces, visitor spaces, Service/University Vehicle spaces, and timed loading zones/spaces will be enforced during the holiday closure as follows.

These parking areas will be enforced during the holiday:

• L-3 (Quarry South Lot)
• L-9 (Quarry Extension Lot)
• L-15 (Beckman/LKSC Visitor Lot)
• L-16 (MSOB Lot)
• L-18 (Stock Farm North Lot)
• Parking Structure 1 (Campus Drive and Roth Way)

Parking restrictions in residential lots (except shared lots) and special zones, such as disabled parking, red zones, fire lanes, and ‘Special Permit Only’ spaces will be enforced 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please refer to our Parking and Circulation Map (PDF) for parking locations and designations.

Marguerite and other transit service: All Marguerite service, including Ardenwood Express, will be suspended on Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29, except the following lines.

• Medical Center: Holiday (MC-H)

Other Bay Area transit agencies will operate on Sunday schedules on Nov. 28 and regular schedules on Nov. 29. Exceptions include VTA, which will suspend Express and Limited Bus Service and Commuter Express light rail service on Nov. 29. The AC Transit Line U and Dumbarton Express will not operate on Nov. 28, but will operate on Nov. 29.

P&TS will be closed on Nov. 28 and Nov. 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday. If you have questions, please contact us  or the appropriate transit agency directly.
