Community Education
for the Education Community
Join our 10-week Community Police Academy. Classes will resume in January 2015. To be eligible for participation, please fill out the application below.
The Stanford Department of Public Safety (SUDPS) has a long history of providing a wide variety of services to the Stanford community. In 2005, the Department of Public Safety implemented our first Community Police Academy. This free 10-week Winter Quarter course is a blend of classroom instruction and hands-on activities that provides the participants the opportunity to experience life as a police officer. This class is designed to expand the participant's knowledge of the duties, responsibilities, decisions and constraints that face law enforcement officers. The goal of the Community Police Academy is to demystify public safety, build trust and develop a partnership between the police department and the Stanford community. This class is open to all Stanford students, staff and residents.
Topics include: laws of arrest, CSI vs. Reality, DUI investigations, pulling over vehicles, a video shoot-don't shoot simulation and more!
Our next Community Police Academy starts on January 7, 2015. Complete and submit the application, for consideration. Please note that we will conduct a background check on all applicants. Those with unacceptable criminal records will be rejected.
Earn a unit of credit by taking the class! After receiving approval on your application, enroll for LAWGEN 209Q on Axess.
