Eamonn Callan, Senate Chair
Eamonn Callan, Professor of Education and Associate Dean for Student Affairs in the Graduate School of Education, has been at Stanford since 1999. He received his B.A. and M.A. from the National University of Ireland and his PhD in Education from the University of Alberta. A philosopher of education, Professor Callan's research looks at civic, moral, and multicultural education. He has a long history of participating in faculty governance: he has served in the Senate for 4 years, including 2 years on the Steering Committee, 4 years on the Committee on Graduate Studies, including 2 as chair, a year on the Committee on Undergraduate Standards and Policies, and 2 years on C-USP's precursor, the Committee on Academic Appraisal and Achievment.
40th Steering Committee of the Senate
The Steering Committee (StC) of the Senate sets the Senate agenda, confers degrees for the Summer, Autumn and Winter quarters, and serves at Administrative Sessions of the StC to review undergraduate and graduate programs on behalf of the Senate.
