Copyright on all articles, notes, essays and book reviews published in the ELJ is solely or jointly held by the Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University. All rights reserved. Except as otherwise expressly provided, the Stanford Environmental Law Journal has granted that each article in its issues may be copied for classroom use, provided that:

  1. copies are distributed at or below cost;
  2. the author and Journal [italics] are identified; and
  3. proper notice of copyright is affixed to each copy.

An author may use an institutional respository for articles published in ELJ, so long as the Stanford Environmental Law Journal is properly acknowledged.
