Strategic Plan Executive Summary

The Stanford Woods Institute for the Environment is at an exciting and expansive stage of development. To guide this next stage of growth, we conducted a major planning process. We solicited input from a broad range of interested parties including faculty, staff and external stakeholders, collected data and reviewed performance. Based on this process, we developed a disciplined long-term approach to expanding the scope and impact of our work. This strategic plan provides a clear blueprint for the Stanford Woods Institute’s future. At its core, the plan shows the way toward building on our strengths as a nexus for innovation and the hub of environment and sustainability research at Stanford. It outlines a focused direction for maximizing our research’s effectiveness, better informing decision-makers and educating environmental leaders around the world.
