Research Areas

The Structural Engineering and Geomechanics Program is designed to prepare students for careers in consulting, industry, government and academia.

 

The program offers instructional programs and research opportunities in structural analysis and design, earthquake engineering, structural dynamics, risk and reliability analysis, computational mechanics, geomechanics and computer-aided engineering. Strong teaching and research ties exist between our program and programs in other departments in the School of Engineering, especially the Mechanics and Computation Division of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Our faculty and students are active participants in research and teaching at several centers, including the John A. Blume Earthquake Engineering Center and the Center for Integrated Facility Engineering.
