Academic Year FLAS Fellowship for an Undergraduate

Academic Year FLAS Fellowships provide $10,000 toward tuition plus a $5000 stipend for one Stanford undergraduate each year undergoing advanced training in a designated foreign language in combination with area studies, international studies, or international aspects of professional studies. Only those students demonstrating at least $15,000 in need are eligible.

CREEES offers up to $2,000 in support for research travel in the former Soviet Union or Eastern Europe.

 Summer flas Fellowships for Graduate Students

Summer FLAS Fellowships provide summer tuition plus $2500 stipends to students enrolled in intensive summer language programs in the US or abroad. Professional school students, especially in law and education, as well as graduate students in H&S, Earth Sciences, and Engineering are strongly encouraged to apply.

Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships, administered by the US Department of Education, provide full tuition for one year plus a stipend to students undergoing advanced training in a designated foreign language in combination with area studies, international studies, or international aspects of professional studies. Professional school students in law, education, Earth Sciences, and Engineering are strongly encouraged to apply.
Application for the 2016-17 FLAS Fellowship. Deadline: January 5, 2016.

Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships, administered by the US Department of Education, provide full tuition for one year plus a stipend to students undergoing advanced training in a designated foreign language in combination with area studies, international studies, or international aspects of professional studies. Professional school students in law, education, Earth Sciences, and Engineering are strongly encouraged to apply. (Students in the School of Medicine and GSB should contact CREEES to enquire about eligibility).
