Stanford participates in the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). As an interested party, you must register for the Match by contacting the NMRP and provide your Match Number on the ERAS Application.

Due Date
The application and supporting documents for the 2016 Residency Program
must be received no later than October 15, 2015. Due to the number of
applications we receive, this date cannot be altered.
Criteria
Selection is determined by a number of factors, including academic
achievement, clinical competence potential academic career, and personal
attributes. We expect that applicants will have excelled in their dermatology
rotations. We also have an affirmative action program to enhance the
number of minority students trained in dermatology. When your application
is completed and all supporting documents are received, your file will
be reviewed by our Residency Selection Committee.
Important Note: We start residents as PGY-2. Hence, you must have completed an approved internship program and be eligible for a California Medical License by the time you start in the program on July 1st.
Interview Dates
We receive over 400 applications each year and select approximately 30 candidates
for an interview. Interviews are by invitation only. Candidates will
be notified by e-mail by the end of November 2015. Interviews
will be conducted on Tuesday, January 19, 2016.
How to Apply
For the residency beginning July 1, 2017, applications are accepted
only through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Please
complete all the information requested on the ERAS application. The Selection
Committee reviews all the information electronically. DO NOT MAIL ANY
DOCUMENTS; hard copies of any documents will be disregarded.
The following information must be provided on the ERAS APPLICATION:
* personal statement
* current curriculum vitae
* photograph
* transcript of medical school record
* letter from the Dean of your medical school
* three letters of recommendation are required but an additional 4th letter can be added through ERAS. No additional letters (beyond 4) will be accepted
* USMLE Step I score (and Step II if completed)
* NRMP number
To secure your ERAS token:
US medical graduates must contact their medical school Student Affairs or Dean's Office.
Foreign medical graduates must contact the Education Commission for
Foreign Medical Graduate (ECFMG) or at 3624 Market Street, Philadelphia,
PA 19104 or visit their website.
Canadian medical graduates must contact the Canadian Resident Matching
Service at email cansmail@cams.ca or at 151 Slater St., Suite 802, Ottawa,
Ontario KIP-5H3, Canada.
Visas
Stanford University does not sponsor J-1 or H-1B visa.

California Licensure
The licensure requirements are for California only. If you intend
to train or practice in another state please contact their Medical Board.
In addition to the examinations listed in the ECFMG section, 12 months of clinical training accredited by the ACGME or by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada must be completed.
The year must include four months from one of the following: emergency medicine, family medicine, general surgery, internal medicine, obstetrics & gynecology, pediatrics, or preliminary year.
