Welcome to the Vascular Malformations Clinic
Vascular Malformations Clinic (VMC) is an outpatient, multidisciplinary clinic. This clinic is usually held on the 2nd and 5th Wednesdays of the month. The clinic is staffed by pediatric dermatologists, otolaryngologists, plastic surgeons, radiologists, interventional radiologists, surgeons, genetics specialists, and pathologists who are specially trained in the diagnosis and management of vascular anomalies.
Our goal is to offer expert consultation regarding the diagnosis and management of vascular anomalies, such as hemangiomas, lymphatic malformations, venous malformations, and other complex malformations. Patients with lesions that may benefit from a combination of medical and surgical opinions are ideal candidates for this clinic.

What to Expect
VAC is held on the 2nd and 5th Wednesday afternoons of each month. Prior to your visit, our nurse coordinator will contact you to facilitate obtaining your relevant medical records and imaging studies. We will review the imaging studies with our pediatric radiologist prior to your visit.
At the visit, your child will be examined by our team of doctors. The team will convene immediately after the examination to discuss your child's possible therapeutic options and provide you with a comprehensive treatment plan.

Clinical Trials and Studies
Sildenafil for the treatment of Lymphatic Malformations - Currently recuiting!
Lymphatic malformations (LMs) are localized areas of abnormal development of the lymphatic system that commonly occur in the head and neck of children. Current therapies involve surgical excision or methods of chemical or physical destruction of portions of lesions. No therapies are uniformly effective and all have the risk of significant adverse events. We recently witnessed almost complete resolution of a LM lesion in a child who was treated with sildenafil oral therapy for pulmonary arterial hypertension. We have subsequently evaluated additional subjects who improved with sildenafil. This study is a Phase 2 trial to evaluate safety and efficacy of sildenafil taken orally to improve or resolve lymphatic malformations in children. Subjects may receive either placebo or treatment in an oral dosage with an open label extension for subjects who received placebo. The study treatment assignment will be randomized in a double blind fashion. MRI examination will evaluate change in lesion volume due to treatment. Other safety and efficacy measures will be taken through the 32-week study duration.
